LOSFA’s Louisiana Award System is an online tool that allows students, family members, and counselors to:

Financial Aid 

FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)

The 2020-2021 FAFSA is available for completion on October 1st, 2019. Don’t wait until the last minute. Get your financial aid application done as soon as possible! FAFSA Completion is a graduation requirement.

Step 1: Create your student & parent FSA IDs at https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm 

  • Student & parent will each need an FSA ID user name and password which serves as your electronic signature on the FAFSA. If the parent already has one, please do not create another one. You will have to use the same FSA ID for each student. 

Step 2: Complete your FAFSA at https://fafsa.ed.gov/

  • The FAFSA is FREE. Never pay to apply. Please select the 2020-2021 FAFSA.

NOMMA staff does not determine eligibility for TOPS scholarships, nor can we confirm scholarship amounts. Check out the following resources to learn more:

 

NOMMA offers two high school diploma types approved by the LDOE: TOPS University Diploma and Jumpstart TOPS Tech Career Diploma. Each parent and cadet must chose a diploma type as well as a pathway by the end of their 10th grade year.

Jumpstart TOPS Tech Career Diploma 

This diploma type is Louisiana's Career and Technical Education Program, which prepares cadets to secure a high-wage job AND attend a technical or community college after graduation.  Each cadet will earn an industry-based certification by the time they graduate! To learn more about Louisiana's Jumpstart Diploma, click here.

Jumpstart Graduation Requirements

TOPS University Diploma

 The TOPS University Diploma offers cadets the necessary curriculum to prepare them to attend a four year college or university after graduation. Foreign language and art are requirements with this diploma type.

Pathways

All cadets at NOMMA must also choose a career pathway in addition to their diploma type.   • Boys Town National Hotline:  1-800-448-3000  - a free resource and counseling service that assists youth and parents 24/7, year round, nationwide. 
  • TrevorText is a confidential and secure resource that provides live help for LGBTQ youth with a trained specialist via text message. Text START to 678678
  • National Youth Crisis Hotline:  (800) 442-HOPE (4673)
  • The New Orleans Family Justice Center offers a 24-hour crisis line for domestic abuse victims at 504-866-9554. The daytime line during business hours is 504-592-4005. The center also provides free counseling, legal and advocacy services on site.
  • Crisis Text Line is free, 24/7 support for those in crisis. Text Hello to 741741 from anywhere in the US to text with a trained Crisis Counselor.
